Precaution To Be Taken While Making Joints & Terminations For Long Life

  • Maintain cable and site clean Irbil. making a joint and termination.
  • Do not incident XI.PE insulation ohne removing the semi conducting liner %%hilt. .trapping the semi-conducting layer pith help of glass piece make sure that there are no deep dents formed on XI.PE Insulation.
  • Use Al-oaidetane of various grits provided in joint & termination to smoothen the NIPE Insulation surface and making kn. from left over traces ofs tml conducting layer.
  • The cut end of the wmi. conducting layer should be even and in circular form pith smooth profile but not Ina zigzag manner.
  • Use correct size inline connector and lugs.
  • Crimping should he done by hexagonal die. so that the crimp is perfect and even pressure is applied to have a compact and tight crimp of intim- log ititb conductor.
  • The mouth of the Wine connector and lugs should be crimped and the face should touch the bare conductor.
  • After crimping of lugs and inline the buntharp edges should be smoothened.
  • Make sum that the gap of lOmm is maintained in between the mouth of crimped lueinline connector and the XLPE insulation.
  • The lug and inline connector should not touch the XLPE insulation.
  • Nake sore that the earthling copper braid overlaps properly over the armour and is folly tight with armour.
  • The copper screen of each core should be shorted to armour tightly and perfectly.
  • There should not be any loose connection.
  • Direction of flame of torch should be in shrink direction.
  • The tubes should not be exposed to flame at one single point. Uniform heat should he applied.
  • Make sure that the tubes are shrunk free from wrinkles.
    Make sure the joint’ termination is cool before applying any mechanical strain.
  • In case of Tapex Joints/terminations stretch self-amalgamating tapes to 70% of their width and apply half overlapped.
  • While wrapping F.S.D stress control pad in Tapex joints and termination precautions should be taken no air voids are entrapped.
  • Mix Hardener with Resin and get a homogeneous mixture by stirring it for 5mins while adding hardener to Resin.
  • While pouring the compound into mould make sure that the air voids are not trapped.
